Protect Your Skin From Free Radicals

Last Updated: March 6, 2019 | 2 minute read

First of all, what are free radicals? Free radicals are a natural part of our body’s metabolic process. They are basically unpaired electrons looking for a partner, and during this process, they attack other cells and overpower parts of our immune system. Antioxidants are part of our cellular defense system, from which the free radicals ‘steal’ that ‘partner electron’. We are exposed to thousands of free radicals every day that reduce the supply of antioxidants. As a result, our natural antioxidant defenses weaken and our skin structure gets damaged.

Some external factors can be the source of free radicals as well. We all know that UV rays from the sun can be harmful to us. Too much exposure to the sun can create free radicals and lead to damaged cells that can speed up the aging process and cause unwanted wrinkles and marks. On top of that, things such as smoking, pollution, poor diet, alcohol consumption, some acne treatments and stress create these damaging particles.

There are some things we can do to eliminate the amount of free radicals we are exposed to outside of natural causes. While we need some sun exposure for our health, using sunscreen and clothing will help in slow the aging process.  Avoid smoking, eat a healthy, nutritional diet, drink plenty of fresh water and cut back on alcohol consumption; exercise, get plenty of sleep and reduce stress factors. Acne treatments with benzoyl peroxide can accelerate aging in your skin, so choose carefully when buying these products.

MitoQ exercise and hydrate

Having a good skincare regime helps significantly – keeping your skin hydrated is fundamental to maintain a healthy look. CoQ10, is a natural antioxidant present in our cells and mitochondria at very high levels when we are young and gradually less so as we age. CoQ10 plays a significant role in protecting us from internal and external free radical associated cell damage. MitoQ is a next generation CoQ that has been enhanced and designed to deliver significant levels of this vital antioxidant directly to the heart of the cell.  Using a good skin product which includes MitoQ will help to reduce the damage to your skin caused by free radicals and keep you looking as young as you feel!
