MITOQ PRODUCT UPDATES

Where has MitoQ +brain gone?

We’ve finally made the hard decision to discontinue MitoQ +brain as we are unable to find a reliable, high-quality, sustainable source for one of the product’s key ingredients. As an alternative to MitoQ +brain, we recommend MitoQ Curcumin, as this product contains our world-first ingredient MitoQ – which is shown to benefit the health of your body’s trillions of cells (including brain cells), plus Longvida® Curcumin – which has been studied for its benefits to cognitive function, mental clarity and focus.

You can learn more about MitoQ Curcumin here.

Where has MitoQ 5mg gone?

MitoQ 5mg has been renamed MitoQ Pure. MitoQ Pure is the same breakthrough MitoQ formula that you know and love. Only the name has changed, to reflect the individuality of our unique antioxidant.

Your packaging has changed, are the products the same?

All our product ingredients are exactly the same – none of our formulas have changed. All of them continue to support your health by addressing cell stress and supporting healthy aging throughout your life. We have also kept 60 capsules per bottle.

Why is MitoQ derma +hydrate or MitoQ derma +protect not available in my region?

Currently, these are only available for purchase in China, NZ, and AU. For skin health, we recommend MitoQ pure as this contains our world-first ingredient MitoQ, which is shown to benefit the health of your body’s trillions of cells, including skin cells.

TAKING MITOQ

When should I take MitoQ?

We recommend that you take MitoQ in the morning on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before your first meal of the day. You can take MitoQ 2 hours after eating. MitoQ is water-soluble, so it doesn't need to be taken with food or oils to assist with absorption.

Why do I need to take MitoQ on an empty stomach and why before breakfast?

We recommend taking it in the morning because studies have shown that, if you take it with food, it reduces the absorption into your body. When you wake up, your stomach is at its most empty – so that’s a great time to take it.

MitoQ helps give you energy – so you may as well make the most of that first thing in the morning when you're up, awake and doing things.

What results can I expect?

Everyone will experience MitoQ differently, depending on your age, your fitness and whether you have a health condition. As different cells and organ systems “re-energize” at different speeds, it can take days, weeks or months for you to experience the full effect of increased energy and health.

Does MitoQ interact with any medicines?

MitoQ has been extensively tested for safety but not for interactions with prescription medicines. Please consult your physician.

What is the difference between MitoQ and NAD supplements?

NAD-focused supplements (such as Tru Niagen and Elysium Basis) contain nicotinamide riboside (a form of vitamin B3) and are good at supporting optimal NAD levels (a form of cellular fuel) within cells. In effect, they may improve the amount of this fuel, which your mitochondria can then use to produce cellular energy. However, like with a car - there's little point in putting high-grade fuel into an engine that's not running properly. MitoQ, by comparison, is like high-grade oil, tuning up your mitochondrial engines by optimizing antioxidant reserves within them - therefore helping to reduce free radical damage. This helps your mitochondria to remain healthy and run more efficiently. When supported with MitoQ, your mitochondria (and therefore your cells) fire on all four cylinders, allowing for more efficient natural production of crucial molecules such as NAD and CoQ10 that mitochondria require to generate energy and protect cells.

Can I take MitoQ with other supplements?

MitoQ can be taken in combination with your other supplements. Some of our products do have vitamins and minerals in them, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your intake levels of those so that they stay within the recommended range.

Can I take a dose that’s higher than you recommend?

MitoQ's recommended dose is 10mg per day. However, studies have shown MitoQ to be safe well beyond the recommended dose.

Are there any side effects?

At doses higher than 80mg per day, a small number of people have reported experiencing a mild upset stomach and nausea.

Can MitoQ replace my CoQ10/ubiquinol supplement?

Yes, MitoQ is based on an advance in CoQ10 technology and can replace CoQ10 or ubiquinol supplementation.

Why does MitoQ/CoQ10 need to be taken with statins?

In your body, CoQ10 is synthesized from the same type of precursor as cholesterol. What statins do is they inhibit that route of synthesis. So, by lowering your cholesterol, you actually end up lowering your body’s CoQ10 levels. When that happens, you can start running into problems like low energy and muscle pains. Your oxidative stress goes up because you’re reducing your antioxidant levels. So, for those reasons, it’s recommended that people take CoQ10 when they’re taking statins, just to boost those levels. We always recommend taking MitoQ as well, just to reduce that oxidative stress.

Is MitoQ natural?

MitoQ doesn’t occur naturally but the active part of the MitoQ molecule is identical to the active part of naturally occurring CoQ10. However, the molecule has been modified in other ways to improve absorption. So, while it’s based on nature, we like to think we’ve improved on the naturally occurring CoQ10.

Is MitoQ safe to use while pregnant?

As with most supplements, MitoQ has not been tested during pregnancy, therefore we do not recommend taking it while pregnant. Supplements and medicines should only be taken in pregnancy when the benefits outweigh the risk. Should you have any further questions, we recommend that you consult your physician or obstetrician. She or he will know you and your pregnancy best and can work with you to ensure you have a safe and healthy pregnancy.

How should I store my MitoQ?

Keep MitoQ out of direct sunlight.

MITOQ PACKAGING

What sustainable packaging materials is MitoQ now using?

Polypropylene bottle & cap

After many attempts, we've developed a minimum polypropylene black bottle and cap that can be easily recycled in all countries as waste collection infrastructure improves. Also known simply as PP, polypropylene is fantastic at protecting your MitoQ and making sure moisture doesn’t get in while our product is on its way to you. It’s durable, so we don’t need to worry about it breaking during shipping, and there’s no need for you to worry about separating the bottle and cap when disposing of it. PP can be processed several times so it is a truly circular economy product. It took a lot of trial and error to achieve this, but we’re so happy we took this step.

Boxing made from environmentally responsible paper

As you may have noticed, our revamp extends beyond the MitoQ bottle. The box that protects our new bottles is made from environmentally responsible paper which has been produced using PEFC certified pulp from responsible sources.

Environmentally friendly inks

Our packaging makeover extends to the inks we’re now using. We've opted for environmentally friendly inks – which can also be recycled.

Recyclable courier bags

Wherever possible, we’ve also switched to recyclable courier bags that are made from post-consumer and post-industrial materials. Even the removable adhesive backing is from recycled materials. After much consideration, we chose not to go ahead with fully compostable courier bags because, if they go into landfills, they degrade slower than plastics. As many of our customers don’t have home composting systems, we decided this was the most environmentally friendly choice - for the time being.

No more bubble wrap

It wouldn’t make sense to go to all of this effort to create environmentally friendly packaging – and then keep using bubble wrap to protect your MitoQ. So, where possible, we’ve gotten rid of it. In place of bubble wrap, your MitoQ bottle will now be wrapped in an “Ecowrap” which is recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. It’s made out of paper sourced from sustainable forests.

What is the best way to dispose of MitoQ packaging?

MitoQ’s bottles, bottle caps, inks and outer-boxes are all 100% recyclable. Simply pop them in your recycling bin!

We’re hoping to use only recyclable courier bags for all of our customers in the near future. However, we’re not able to offer this to all of our international customers just yet. We encourage you to check the guidelines given on the courier bag that your MitoQ arrives in.

Why do you still have an outer box?

The outer box is solely for the protection of the bottle during shipping. When redesigning our packaging, we took careful consideration of what elements were crucial and what could be excluded. If we did not protect the bottle with the outer box, there was a high risk of the bottle being damaged during transit or being additionally packed in non-environmentally friendly packaging by our couriers. We tested many different materials and packaging scenarios and found that the combination of a single reinforced outer box and Ecowrap provided the best protection from damage by knocks and liquid, while also being the most planet-friendly option, as they can still be widely recycled and composted.

Will MitoQ continue to explore eco-friendly packaging solutions?

We fully realize that there’s more work to be done. We're continuously looking for ways to take small steps toward a more impactful MitoQ. This includes considering the full environmental impact of MitoQ’s packaging, rather than just focusing on how it is disposed of. We’ll continue to shift and evolve as new sustainable packaging options become available. We aim to be transparent throughout this process – and we look forward to keeping you informed as we grow and improve.
