Inside each of our cells are mitochondria. They're the powerplants of your cells- combining the food we eat and the air we breathe to generate the energy our cells need to keep us healthy and alive.
It does this by producing an important enzyme called CoQ10, which helps create cellular energy and neutralize harmful free radicals.
However, as we age, our mitochondria naturally start to slow down and produce less CoQ10, and therefore energy- as much as 10% less every decade.
As we age, our mitochondria start to decline in function naturally - studies suggest that from the age of 30, the rate of decline is as much as 10% per decade.
CoQ10 is exclusively produced by the mitochondria and essential for our well-being, but our bodies make fewer of them as we age.
While ordinary supplements can help, most CoQ10 is too large to enter the mitochondria- its tough double membrane deflects them away.
