The MitoQ Global Science Expert Panel can continually draw from cutting-edge research to provide strategic advice for product development, education and innovation, ensuring that we as a brand maintain our leadership and foresight in cellular health research directions.

We're currently building out an even bigger portfolio of cell health molecules with the help of our newly created Science Expert Panel. We've asked world-renowned scientists, including the inventor of MitoQ, Mike Murphy, to guide our innovation pipeline. These professors, from universities such as Harvard, Oxford and UCL, are helping us build the next generation of cell health molecules.”
Professor Mike Murphy received his B.A. in chemistry at Trinity College, Dublin in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at The University of Cambridge in 1987. After taking up a faculty position in the Biochemistry Department at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand in 1992, he moved to the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit in Cambridge, UK (then called the MRC Dunn Human Nutrition Unit) where he is a group leader. Murphy’s research focuses on the roles of reactive oxygen species in mitochondrial function and pathology, and he has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers.
After graduating from King’s College London, Dr Siow became a postdoctoral associate in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Cambridge. He has been Director of Ageing Research at King’s College London since 2016. His expertise focuses mainly on cardiovascular redox biology, nutrigenomics and physiological oxygen. Dr Siow has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers and has been awarded over £4m in collaborative research funding.
Marcia C. Haigis, Ph.D. obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 2002 and performed postdoctoral studies at MIT studying mitochondrial metabolism. In 2006, Dr. Haigis joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School, where she is currently a Professor in the Department of Cell Biology. Dr. Haigis is an active member of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging, a member of the Ludwig Center at Harvard Medical School, and was recently selected for the National Academy of Medicine Emerging Leaders in Health and Medicine Program.
“More recently mitochondrial health has become a key focus in many research initiatives across the globe focused on longevity and healthy aging. The appointment of our Scientific Advisory Board will provide an advanced level of stewardship to guide our innovation and research activities to further the advancement of cellular health science across the health and wellness sectors.”
Professor Doug Seals is a Professor in the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder. He obtained B.S. degrees in Education and Business from William Jewell College, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Exercise and Applied physiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and postdoctoral research training in Aging and Applied Physiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He was named by the American Physiological Society as its 2013 Edward F. Adolph Distinguished Lecturer for his work in the physiology of aging.
