While some of us might call that enough exercise for one year, the team then set their sights on New Zealand’s Tour of Southland – a seriously challenging multi-day cycling event. How far is the Tour of Southland? It’s a race that takes seven back-to-back days, covering 863 km (536 miles) throughout New Zealand’s South Island: Invercargill, Lumsden, Te Anau, Queenstown, Bluff, Gore and Winton. In short, it’s no piece of cake – but there is some great scenery along the way.
So, how did the team prepare?
“We’ve now been with MitoQ for a number of years”, notes James Canny, the team’s manager. “All our athletes take the product. Coincidentally, we’ve seen really great increases in endurance and recovery.”
Recent clinical trials support this. Research carried out by Ulster University and The University of Auckland has found that MitoQ can successfully be used to improve cycling performance and can also prevent damage to mitochondrial DNA after exercise. MitoQ Pure is also Informed Sport certified.
“Taking MitoQ has really helped me just recover between sessions and be good for the next race”, adds team member Ben Oliver.
Of course, the team also put a lot of hard training and preparation into the race, and had a lot of support from family and friends – and it all paid off.
“I think, not only for me but for the team, it’s the biggest race of the year for us and we won it”, says Josh. “We won Team’s Class, Yellow, KOM (King of the Mountains), a couple of stage wins...it doesn’t get much better than that.”
Why MitoQ?
