MitoQ® is our world’s first mitochondria-targeted antioxidant. Unlike conventional antioxidants, our patented molecule Mitoquinol Mesylate is uniquely designed to cross the mitochondrial membrane and reduce free radicals at their source.Â
By protecting mitochondria from oxidative stress, MitoQ® helps reduce structural and DNA damage and supports healthier cellular function. Clinical and translational research has associated daily MitoQ® supplementation with benefits in cardiovascular health, metabolic balance, exercise performance and recovery, and healthy aging.Â

Oxidative stress: the mitochondrial burden
Excessive oxidative stress inside the mitochondria damages lipids, proteins, and mtDNA — impairing energy production and accelerating cellular decline. This is a recognized driver of over 200 health conditions, including cardiovascular dysfunction, metabolic imbalance, and cognitive decline.Â
Oxidative stress is also a major contributor to aging, at both the cellular level and in external markers of decline.Â
Clinical results: In published trials, 20mg of MitoQ® Mitoquinol Mesylate reduced systemic oxidative stress markers by up to 48%.Â

Mitochondrial health: restoring cellular efficiencyÂ
When oxidative stress overwhelms mitochondria, they lose efficiency — producing less ATP and generating more ROS. This state of mitochondrial dysfunction is now recognized as central to aging.Â
How MitoQ works:Â
- Targeted entry: Its positive charge enables MitoQ® Mitoquinol to cross the mitochondrial inner membrane and accumulate at the site of ROS production.Â
- Redox recycling: After neutralizing a free radical, MitoQ is recycled back to its active form by the electron transport chain, allowing one molecule to neutralize multiple free radicals.Â
This mechanism makes MitoQ® a durable mitochondrial antioxidant, supporting whole-body health domains such as:Â
- More resilient energy productionÂ
- Improved endothelial responsiveness and vascular flexibilityÂ
- Healthier metabolic signaling and lipid balanceÂ
Clinically studied benefits & outcomes
Research on MitoQ® Mitoquinol Mesylate demonstrates meaningful outcomes across cardiovascular, metabolic, exercise, and aging domains.
Collapsible content
Cardiovascular Health
Clinical research shows that MitoQ® MitoquinolMesylate supplementation can significantly improve vascular function. In a trial published by the American Heart Association, six weeks of 20mg/day MitoQ® led to an improvement in vasodilation, up to 42% and up to 13% reduction in oxidized LDLThis study also found that MitoQ® improved aortic stiffening; a common biomarker associated with aging that is difficult to address.Â
Metabolic HealthÂ
Emerging research highlights the role of MitoQ® Mitoquinol in supporting metabolic balance. Preclinical and pilot human studies demonstrate improvements in glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, and may help improve the energy balance of those with poor metabolism. These findings align with clinical outcomes showing improvements in oxidative stress and vascular health, both of which are tightly linked to metabolic function.
Exercise Performance & RecoveryÂ
Mitochondrial health is central to physical performance, as mitochondria generate up to 95% of cellular energy. Numerous human clinical trials have investigated the effects of MitoQ® on athletic performance; with positive impacts seen in peak power, mobility, and oxygen uptake.Â
In trained cyclists, four weeks of MitoQ (20mg/day) increased muscle peak power by 4.4% and reduced finishing times by 10.8 seconds. In a similar clinical trial, an increase in peak power at VO2 max was also seen after just 10 days of 20 mg MitoQ® supplementation. Â
Beyond performance metrics, MitoQ® has been shown to work synergistically with exercise to support mitochondrial biogenesis, and inflammation reduction and promoting blood vessel formation (angiogenesis).
Healthy Aging
MitoQ supports mitochondrial function, a cornerstone of healthy aging. Preclinical studies of MitoQ® have shown that by reducing mitochondrial oxidative stress, MitoQ® may encourage healthy aging. In one pre-clinical study, MitoQ has been found to protect against age-associated memory loss by increasing ATP and preserving synaptic mitochondrial function of the hippocampus.
Organ Support
Beyond cardiovascular and metabolic domains, preclinical research has shown protective effects of MitoQ® in vital organs — including the liver, kidneys & brain.

What your patients can expect from MitoQ® Mitoquinol Mesylate
“MitoQ gets into your bloodstream very quickly after you take it, but the effect depends on how stressed your cells are, your lifestyle and general health,” explains Dr. Siobhan Mitchell, PhD, MitoQ Chief Science Officer Â
- Some patients may notice changes quickly; for others, benefits take longer to appear.Â
- Consistent use over 90+ days is recommended for meaningful improvements at the cellular level.Â
- Even when not immediately perceptible, MitoQ is working “behind the scenes” to support oxidative stress reduction, energy production, and cellular repair.Â
