"Remember when being in your forties seemed old? Well, surprise! It happened sooner than I thought. Instead of dealing with the hormonal acne that plagued my twenties, I’m dealing with a whole new set of skin related issues. Wrinkles and melasma, to name a few."
This is where aging becomes confusing. Do we embrace it or reverse it? And, how far are we willing to go? As you know, I haven’t been shy about my love affair for Botox. But, guess what? It goes away. A little too soon, if you ask me! Other than major surgery, the only way to adjust the clock is to focus on the most important aspect: the health of your skin and body, as whole. This should come as no surprise considering that your skin is your largest organ. If you treat it well, you’ll get the same in return.
With so many products and health supplements on the market, it’s near impossible to know what really works and what’s a gimmick. Like a detective does his research with due diligence, I do the same thing with my skincare.
Last week, I was invited to a beautiful rooftop luncheon at Catch in NYC to learn about a groundbreaking product in both health and beauty called MitoQ. This leading edge science has been supported by over a decade of research in medical journals all over the world. If that doesn’t sound impressive enough, keep scrolling.
I actually got to speak directly with the creators of the line. An ingredient that is backed by science and doctors? Okay, I’m listening.
While I’m not trying to become a biology teacher, I took notes for you guys. Here’s what I learned:
1) Mitochondria are a vital component of our cells that convert the air we breathe and the food we eat into the energy our cells need to thrive
2) As we age our mitochondria, the energy generating centers of our cells, slowly get “out of tune” which means less energy for our cells
How does this apply to beauty and health? It means everything. MitoQ has actually discovered a way to deliver antioxidants into the mitochondria to help speed those babies up! How great is that? Not only does this help slow down the ageing process but it’s also been scientifically proven to help people with a variety of other health conditions.
MitoQ has created a line of supplements and skincare products, depending on your needs. This could range from dull skin (skin care) to heart health (supplements). I was able to take a quiz to see what exact product I needed, which you can find here on the site.
I was so thrilled to be able to learn all about the product directly from the source. I’ve actually been using the skincare line and supplement in both my AM and PM routine. I’m loving it so far! I would definitely recommend taking the quiz on their site to see what you could benefit from.
