Energetic People: 4 Habits They Do Regularly

Having low levels of energy is becoming more of a norm for people across the nation as workloads are constantly on the rise. Having enough energy to carry you throughout the day is highly advantageous as you can go through the day and get everything you need to be done and still have enough energy at the end of the day to enjoy hobbies, family time, or whatever else you enjoy to do with your leisure time.

Nearly everyone has a person within their life that seems to just have a limitless amount of energy to expend. From an outside perspective, it can seem like they are just born with more energy, but the reality is probably that they have built specific habits that enable them to be more energetic.

At your core, you have the same biological composition as energetic people, all you need to do is unlock that energy by making a few lifestyle changes. Below is a closer look at habits that help support better energy levels that many energetic people across the globe utilize. Creating healthy daily habits for your busy schedule can allow you to have the energy you need to prevail. Equipped with this knowledge you can be on your way to becoming that energetic person you’ve always wanted to be.

Step outside of your comfort zone

A common theme amongst people with energy is that they are constantly challenging themselves and are excited for the next adventure of life. From an energy level perspective, constantly exposing yourself to new and different things helps to engage your mind in a way you simply cannot with repetition and routine.

Think about the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone. Whether that be public speaking, taking an impromptu road trip, or even just broadening your food horizons by trying something new. More likely than not you were energized in those moments and were not thinking about how tired you were.

People are creatures of habit and while habits can be good, repetition can cause your mind to go into autopilot. Switching up your routine and adding some spice could be just what you need to feel more energized and engaged with life.

Prioritize sleep

If energetic people get their energy from anywhere, it begins with getting quality sleep each night. While you may think you already sleep enough if you have low energy throughout the day, the reality is that you may not be getting the sleep your body needs.

Sleeping for a healthy length of time is an important aspect of good sleep hygiene. People often think that the more they sleep the better, but in reality, there is such a thing as getting too much sleep. Oversleeping can have similar effects as sleep deprivation and can result in feeling fatigued.

On top of getting enough time sleeping, it is also important to ensure you are getting quality sleep that is free of interruptions and allows your body to enter deeper levels of sleep necessary to feeling rejuvenated. To do this you should take a number of steps to get your sleep to where it needs to be.

Sleep environment

An important factor in getting good sleep is to ensure your sleeping environment is conducive to not only falling asleep but also staying asleep. This is accomplished by getting a comfortable mattress and pillow and reducing exposure to external stimuli like sounds and light.

An eye mask and earplugs can effectively isolate you from your environment and allow you to stay asleep throughout the night without waking up. With sounder and better quality sleep, your body is able to provide you with more energy to carry you through your day.

Sleep routine

While routine can be monotonous, it is just what your body needs in terms of sleep. The human body has what is known as a circadian rhythm which is a biological clock and it signals to your body when it is time to go to sleep and wake up. Training your circadian rhythm is accomplished through repetition and creating an effective sleep routine allows your body to enter sleep and wake up easier.

A good nighttime routine consists of dimming lights before you plan to go to bed and try and do relaxing things such as reading. Making a habit of doing your nighttime routine every night before you go to bed can train your body to associate those habits with time to sleep and make it much easier for you to fall asleep.

An ideal morning routine consists of getting out of bed and getting a healthy dose of light which signals your body to wake up. Your wake-up routine should aim to get you out of bed and keep you from hitting snooze. Making a habit of getting out of bed after your first alarm can be challenging but over time it will provide you with more energy and will allow your mornings to be utilized more effectively.

Consistent wake-up

Another habit to instill for good sleep is to wake up at a consistent hour every single day. Waking up at a consistent time essentially teaches your circadian rhythm when to set its internal alarm clock. When the body’s circadian rhythm aligns with your specific wakeup time, it can make it much easier to wake up as your body will naturally transition to lighter stages of sleep till you regain consciousness.

Many people feel groggy because they are woken up during deeper levels of sleep which carries more sleep inertia with it. Essentially when you are woken up from deeper levels of sleep your body wants to go back to sleep and this phenomenon is known as sleep inertia. With a trained circadian rhythm, your body adequately prepares for waking up leaving you to feel more refreshed and wakeful after a night’s rest.

Exercise

A common thread amongst energetic individuals is that they typically engage in some sort of physical activity. While you may be tempted to think that they do so because they have so much energy, the act of working out and getting outside can actually fuel higher levels of perceived energy.

Rather than wait around to feel energized to join a gym, running club, or bicycling group you should just take the dive. Making a habit of exercising on a consistent basis provides your body with much-needed movement, stress relief, and a healthy level of pressure on your cardiovascular, muscular, and skeletal systems. In addition to all of the benefits outlined above, the act of physical activity can also contribute to higher levels of energy.

Take nutrition seriously

Many people go through their day and don’t think twice about what they eat in a day. Many energetic people however take their nutrition seriously and perhaps maintaining good nutrition is exactly what enables them to have so much energy.

Macros

From a biological standpoint, the human body requires certain molecules, vitamins, and nutrients to be consumed on a regular basis. These vital macromolecules include carbohydrates, amino acids, and fatty acids. These molecules allow for basic functioning and essentially fuel the body. Making it a habit to ensure you are eating quality sources and enough is an important aspect of staying energized.

While you don’t need to obsess over nutritional values, you should be aware and make a habit of choosing healthy and whole food alternatives to more processed food options.

Supplements

In addition to macros, your body can also benefit from the assistance of supplements. Supplements are additive substances to your diet. Essentially supplements consist of the things your body needs to get more of since you are unable to attain all of what you need through diet alone.

A prime example of a vitamin supplement that can help with energy levels is Vitamin B12. For vegetarians, Vitamin B12 can be difficult to obtain through diet so supplementation helps to establish ideal B12 levels which can help with energy levels if they are deficient.

Another molecule that can help support natural energy at a cellular level is MitoQ. MitoQ acts by supporting the powerhouse of the cell known as the mitochondria. With supported mitochondria, the cells within your body are able to have all the energy they need to work effectively and efficiently. The larger picture from supporting cellular health is that you support your natural energy levels, support mental clarity, and healthy aging.

Conclusion

The only thing stopping you from being energetic is yourself and prioritizing your health and wellbeing through healthy habits can enable you to feel more energized and ready to take life by the horns. Stepping outside your comfort zone, prioritizing sleep, getting exercise, and taking your nutrition seriously can all help turn your energy levels around and allow you to have more energy to get the absolute most out of each day.
