Here at MitoQ, we stand by our statement – More Power to You. More power to get through the day, more power to go for that run, more power to get that extra load of washing done or more power to ride 192KM. That is why we’ve decided to become the principal sponsor of The K2 Road Cycle Classic.
The K2 is possibly the toughest one-day cycle challenge in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also one of the most scenic and varied with the route travelling through sub-tropical forest, pacific coastlines, rural farmland and the Pohutukawa coastline of the Hauraki Gulf.
Set in the idyllic Coromandel in New Zealand the iconic event featuring cycling a whopping 192KM. Andy Reid, Keith and Rita Stephenson created the K2 Cycle Classic to help people feel better and stronger with exercise and challenge in the outdoors and next year will be their 20th anniversary of running events.
“One of the things that is important for Keith, Rita and I, is that we have sponsors that we feel comfortable with and who we think fit our values and vision,” says Andy, when asked why they decided to partner with MitoQ.
As a Kiwi company with a focus on healthy aging and energy support supplements, it occurred to the K2 Trust that, K2 and MitoQ would ride together nicely (pun intended).
While getting people active is the main objective of the event, they also have another purpose - to raise funds for their goal to establish an outdoor pursuit centre and bike park on the Coromandel.
They rely almost exclusively on volunteers so that all proceeds can go towards their charitable purpose, and the trio calculate they’ve drawn around 30,000 participants to the Peninsula and planted more than 3,500 kauri trees on behalf of participants taking part in the annual Kauri Run.
At MitoQ we are all about supporting the body’s cells, to help people perform and recover at their peak. It’s exciting to be part of a cause that is not only empowering and challenging people but also one that is giving back to our home country in such a positive way.
If you would like to take on the challenge, visit the K2 website to sign up. Or, we will be following the race on social media so be sure to follow our facebook for updates
